Arriving and departing

  • What is the check in and check out time?
    • Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 10am.
  • Can we arrive earlier than 3pm?
    • Yes. You must add early check in when you book online. A $50 early check in fee applies. You may arrive at 12pm at the earliest.
  • Can we leave later than 10am?
    • Yes. You must add late checkout when you book online. A $50 late check out fee applies. You may depart at 12pm at the latest.
  • What do we do if we’re planning to arrive after 5pm?
    • The office will close at 5pm. If must arrive later than 5pm, please let us know what time you plan to arrive and we will have your chalet unlocked and ready with an information pack.

Farm activities

  • Do you do farm activities all year round?
    • Yes. We do farm activities every day at 8:30am except Christmas day.
  • Do you do farm activities every day?
    • Yes. Every day we have guests, we do farm activities (other than Christmas day).
  • Do you have a tractor ride every day?
    • We guarantee that every family will have at least one tractor ride while they stay with us. Usually this means a tractor ride every day, but sometimes we skip a day.
  • What animals do you have?
    • The animals we have varies a lot! Usually we have goats, emus, ponies, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, a kangaroo and rabbits or guinea pigs. Sometimes we have a few extra, sometimes we have a few less.
  • Do you do horse riding?
    • No, but please get in touch with the Dardanup Visitor Centre for nearby horseriding options. Tel: (08) 9728 1551.
  • Can we collect our own eggs for breakfast?
    • When the chickens are laying, absolutely! However, we cannot guarantee when and how much the chickens will lay, so it’s best to bring your own eggs too.
  • Can we bring food for the animals?
    • Yes, but the animals have specific diets. Apples and lettuce/spinach/greens are eaten by most animals.

Prices

  • Do you have off season prices?
    • No. Our prices apply all year round.
  • What are ‘extra people’ and at what age do children count as ‘extra people’?
    • Our chalets are priced for up to 4 people. Each ‘extra person’ above 4 people incurs a charge of $25 per person per night. So, if you have 5 people in Chalet 5 you will pay the base tariff + $25 (one extra person) each night.
    • Anyone above the age of 2 years count as extra people.

Meals

    • What do we do for meals?
      • Usually guests bring groceries to prepare their own meals. If you want to purchase groceries, Dardanup is about 12km away and has a General Store. Otherwise, Bunbury is about 22km away and has lots of big supermarkets.
      • If you want to dine out, there are lots of cafes open around the Ferguson Valley on weekends. Visit the Ferguson Valley website: http://www.fergusonvalley.net.au/
      • For dinner at a restaurant, the safest option is to travel to Bunbury. There are restaurants open in Bunbury every night of the week.

Chalet provisions

  • What is provided in the chalets?
    • The chalets are self-contained, so they include all cutlery, crockery, cooking pots, pans, utensils and serving materials needed for basic dishes. All chalets have an oven, cooktop, microwave, fridge and a barbecue. Please see the “accommodation” page for a comprehensive list of what is included in the chalets.
    • Chalets also include dishwashing detergent, dishwasher detergent, body soap and hand soap.
    • Please bring your own milk, cooking oil, salt, pepper and any other condiments you require.
  • Do the chalets have wifi?
    • Yes. There is free wifi available in chalets.
  • Do you provide tea towels and wash cloths?
    • Yes. Chalets come with 2 tea towels and one chux cloth, along with a sponge. Dishwashing detergent and some cleaning products are also provided.
  • Do all chalets have barbecues?
    • Yes.
  • Do all chalets have cleaning products?
    • Yes. All chalets have at least a cream cleaner, a spray and wipe and detergent. All chalets also have a mop and broom.
  • What heating and cooling is there in the chalets?
    • All chalets have reverse cycle air conditioning and a wood heater.
  • In winter do you provide firewood?
    • Yes. If you wish to use the wood heater in winter you can purchase firewood. Firelighters and kindling are available to purchase. You are also welcome to bring your own.
  • Do you have a guest laundry room? What does it include?
    • Yes. It has a washing machine and a dryer. Washing powder is provided.
    • There is an iron and an ironing board provided in the laundry room.
  • Do you have cots and high chairs? 
    • Yes. You must add these to your online booking. A one off charge applies.
    • Bring your own linen and towel for the cot.

Linen

  • Do I have to order linen?
    • If you want the beds to be made when you arrive you must add linen to your online booking. Linen incurs an additional one off charge per single and queen.
    • Linen is not available for cots.
  • What does linen include?
    • ‘Linen’ includes sheets, towels and pillow slips. If you hire linen one week or more in advance of your booking, the beds will be made for your arrival. If you order linen later, we can still provide linen but cannot guarantee the beds will be made for you.
    • The chalets always include pillow protectors, duvets, blankets and a bathmat and hand towel.

Amenities

  • Where are the nearest shops?
    • The closest shop is Dardanup, which is approximately 12km away. It is a small town with a general store. If you want a larger range of shops, Bunbury is about 22km away. It is a city with big stores, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets.
  • Do you have a playground?
    • Yes.
  • What can we do while we are there?
    • There is plenty to do on the farm and around the Ferguson Valley.
    • On the farm there is so much to do! You could:
        • play with (and feed!) the animals
        • feed fish
        • play tennis
        • play basketball
        • jump on the trampoline
        • play on the playground
        • play on the lawn area
        • go for a walk or a picnic to the back of the property
        • go fishing in the dam
        • go canoeing on the dam
        • have a barbecue
        • in winter, have a campfire in a fire pit

      • relax!!!
    • There is also lots to do around the Ferguson Valley. You could:
      • visit a microbrewery
      • visit a winery
      • do a cheese tasting
      • visit Gnomesville and bring a gnome
      • visit a local art gallery
      • have a delicious lunch in one of the local restaurants or cafes.
    • Bunbury and surrounding areas also have plenty of attractions. You could:
      • Swim with dolphins at the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury
      • enjoy the lovely beaches in Bunbury
      • tackle the enormous playground in Donnybrook
      • pick fruit in Donnybrook
      • visit Wellington Mills Dam
      • Explore the beautiful Wellington National Park
      • Ride your bike (road or mountain) around Wellington Mills roads and bike trails.

Miscellaneous 

  • Do you have facilities for caravans or tents?
    • No. Unfortunately we are not licensed to have caravans or tents on our property. You may wish to stay at a local caravan park.
  • Can we have a campfire?
    • Yes, during permitted times of year. We have fire pits available during the winter months, but from 1 November outdoor fires are no longer allowed.
  • Can we bring a pet?
    • No. Sadly we have had too many bad experiences with pets!
  • Do you have parking for our car? Is it close to the chalet?
    • Yes. You can park right next to your chalet.
  • What is the weather like?
    • The weather is usually very similar to Perth, perhaps 1-2 degrees cooler and a little more windy.

Cancellation policy

  • If you cancel 30 days or more prior to the first day of your booking – we will refund your deposit minus a cancellation fee as follows:
    • For bookings made prior to 3 July 2024 – $25
    • For bookings made on or after 3 July 2024 – $100.
  • If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the booking – we will refund your deposit ONLY if the chalet is re-booked for at least the period of the original booking minus the cancellation fee.
  • If you do not arrive for your booking but have not cancelled – you will be charged the full cost of your booking.
  • If you leave prior to your booked departure date, you must pay the full cost of your booking.
  • If you arrive after your booked arrival date, you must pay the full cost of your booking.
  • If we do not receive a deposit for your booking we may cancel the booking without notice.
